Brief History and Role
Created in 1979 by a team of 18 property valuers, the French Institute or Real Estate Valuation (IFEI) now has 345 members.
On January 1998, IFEI initiated the general concepts of valuation around the Charter of Valuation, to which fourteen associations have agreed.
IFEI is a reference institution of property valuation, known for its involvement in the development of the profession.
Principal Activities
Lobbying. IFEI is very concerned with the need for reflexion and harmonisation, exchanges of knowledge and representation of valuers.
IFEI works with other associations of valuers with Government and Financial authorities.
Education. IFEI plays a leading role in the continuous education of its members, and organises each month in Paris, and less frequently in some major French cities, conferences and meetings.
Real Estate is included in many degrees which are taught at the University or Business Schools, where some members of IFEI are also teachers.
Principal Areas of Policy
The influence of IFEI has been developed through a national structure covering the whole country.
Regional representations are established in Lyon, Marseilles/Nice and recently Toulouse/Bordeaux.
Organisation
The managing committee, under the authority of the Superior Board drives the Institute (meetings, various manifestations and publications).

Publications
* IFEI publishes the revue 'Le Cercle' every trimester, presenting information about IFEI life, law evolutions, and articles written by IFEI members concerning methods of evaluation, impact of new laws, real estate products, market surveys, etc.
* IFEI publishes also, once a year, a specific revue 'Les Cahiers', with a complete development and analysis of a real estate or land subject.
* TEGOVA FRANCE translated the European Valuation Standards 2020 into French (available only in digital copy).
Other Activities
IFEI also organises in Paris or in other major French cities, visits of buildings and sites, complete with cultural or leisure activities.
