Warsaw General Assembly

AN EVENTFUL TEGOVA SPRING MEETING, WARSAW 15/17 June 2023

The Sofitel Victoria hotel in Warsaw provided the venue for TEGOVA's Spring General Assembly on 17th June. 90 representatives of valuation associations from 26 countries (including IAAO from USA) attended the meeting which was largely focused on the latest developments in AI and ESG. There were presentations in relation to the former by Dennis Webb of the American Business Appraisers National Network and Jeremy Moody of the UK's Central Association of Agricultural Valuers . AFREXIM's Philippe Guillerm delivered a presentation of an ESG assessment grid and Prof Sven Bienert presented his latest publication titled "Accounting and reporting of GHG emissions from real estate operations”. 

The delegates were pleased to welcome two new members namely The Belgian Association of Property Valuers (Belgaval) as presented by its Chairman Jean-Paul Loozen and the Association of Independent Valuers of Bosnia and Herzegovina as presented by Board Member, Adnan Mehmedagic.

The delegates also congratulated ISIVI's Antonio Campagnoli on his recent election as Vice President of FIABCI and President-Elect for 2024.

The General Assembly was preceded on the day before by a European Valuation  Conference attended by a full house of 180 valuers from across Europe.

The highlight of the conference was a simulated international tribunal hearing (Mock Arbitration) concerning a dispute about the value of expropriated land for airport development, preceded by a presentation by Prof. Magdalena Habdas on the Role of The Expert Witness in International Valuation Disputes.

The assembly voted to accept two new TEGOVA members, the Belgian Association of Property Valuers (BELGAVAL) and the Association of Independent Valuers (UNP) from Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The next Autumn Meeting of TEGOVA will take place in Bologna on 5/7 October 2023 organised by ASSOVIB.
