Privacy policy

TEGoVA values and respects your privacy and the protection of your personal information. We may collect personal information from you through your use of our site, when you contact us, when your data is transferred to us by your member association (e.g. as a valuer or employee), or if we process your data in the course of our business. This Privacy Policy explains how we process your personal information. It also sets out your rights with respect to our processing of your personal information.

Personal data we collect about you

If you are a valuer who applies for or takes part in our European Valuer Recognition program, we may process personal information such as your name, contact details, REV or TRV certificate recognition number and period of validity. In the context of applications by or audits of your national member association, we may occassionally also process other personal information held by your member association, such as your educational qualifications, experience and professional development.

If you are an employee or representative of a TEGoVA member association or a vendor that provides services to TEGoVA, we may process personal information such as your name, job title, contact details, professional experience, intranet account data and electronic signature.

If you contact us via our website or subscribe to receive information from us, we may process personal information such as your name and email address, or other information that is relevant to your enquiry. When you visit our website, we may also process certain data such as your IP address (for more information on our use of cookies, see below).

Purposes of the processing of your data

We may process your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to include recognized valuers in the TEGoVA public register (legal basisfor processing:performance of contract);
  • to manage the European Valuer Recognition program, including invoicing and auditing TEGoVA member associations (legal basis for processing: legitimate interests + performance of contract);
  • in the context of TEGoVA's internal functioning, including the organization and functioning of its Board of Directors, General Assembly and Committees (legal basis for processing: legitimate interests + performance of contract);
  • to inform you about news from TEGoVA and related matters (e.g. the European Valuer Journal) (legal basisfor processing: legitimate interests (REV and TRV valuers) + consent);
  • to respond to your questions, requests or complaints (legal basisfor processing: consent);
  • to operate our website and to improve its technical and functional management (legal basisfor processing: legitimate interests);
  • to comply with our legal obligations and to enforce our legal rights (legal basisfor processing: legitimate interests + legal obligations).

Your data are no longer held by us than is necessary to achieve the purpose(s) for which they were collected or as long as it is required by law or competent authority.

Use of cookies and scripts

A cookie is a simple small file that is sent along with pages from our website and stored by your browser on the hard disk of your computer. When presenting information on www.tegova.org, we use cookies and scripts that are necessary for the use of the website and for analytic purposes. We strictly use server based statistic software. Acquired data for analytical purposes is not shared with third parties.

We also offer the possibility to share pages using external links to social media such asFacebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. By using these external links you are entering the respective social media-platforms which use cookies and scripts that hold your data. By using these services, we assume that you are familiar with and agree with their privacy policy and your privacy settings there.

Joint controllership

In the context of the European Valuer Recognition program, we and the TEGoVA member associations act as joint controllers for the processing of your data. In accordance with our contractual provisions on joint controllership, your respective member association is responsible to fulfil the applicable information obligations and shall also inform you of this Privacy Policy. Your member association is also responsible to act as your primary point of contact in the context of your data subject rights and to handle your requests accordingly.

Third parties

Except when required by law or competent authority, we do not disclose your personal data to third parties. However, in the context of the purposes listed above, trusted third party service providers we are working with, such as our IT provider, may have access to your personal data for the performance of their services. Also, as TEGoVA is a member association, in certain (limited) circumstances your data may be shared with other TEGoVA member associations, including member associations that are located outside the European Economic Area, in the context of Tegova's functioning and activities.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to the personal data that we process about you and to correct these data. In certain circumstances, you also have the right to request a restriction of the processing of your personal data, or to have your personal data deleted.

You also have the right to object (i) to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes and (ii) if substantiated and except if we can demonstrate compelling legal grounds for the processing, to the processing of your data based upon our legitimate interests.

If the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on your consent before your withdrawal.

As mentioned above, your member association is responsible to act as your primary point of contact in the context of your data subject rights and to handle your requests accordingly.
