Message from the Chairman

January 11, 2021

Dear Colleages

As we enter the New Year, I believe we have good reason for high spirits. This moment is often viewed as a New Start, but in truth it can never escape the shock waves of the previous year and it is that which should give us confidence, because as the very foundations of society and the economy trembled and shook, TEGOVA had its most productive year ever. Nothing stopped us from producing a ground-breaking 9th edition of EVS and the first ever European Business Valuation Standards while undertaking the first ever European Plant, Machinery & Equipment Standards. TEGOVA got a rebranding and a film that project the essence of what we are: highly qualified professionals in tune with the needs of real people. The European Valuer journal was radically overhauled to project those qualities and foster a European valuation and property agora.

There is immense work in progress for 2021, notably completion of EPMEVS and education and qualifications for both business and PME valuers, but I have no doubt that the new year will produce more than its share of new challenges and opportunities as property markets adapt to lasting change and to the European Union's assertion of its sovereignty and projection of its power.

One aspect of 2020 that we certainly won't miss was being kept apart. TEGOVA is a very human enterprise, a community that thrives on real contact, and we need to get back to that as soon as we can. There is every reason to be hopeful that the TEGOVA conference and General Assembly planned for 27-29 May in Brussels will be able to take place and if it does, we'll make it a celebration, so please save the date.

With best wishes,

Krzysztof Grzesik REV FRICS
